Just Catching Up....

The NS Fibre Festival is over for another year!  Here are a few pictures of some of the different quilts seen at a variety of quilt shows...

From the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild show....fun idea with newsprint behind the solids and gray paper pieced flags. 

The Cumberland County Quilt Guild had their show in the Baptist Church.  Their challenge of Black Dresses was fabulous!

And Quilt Expressions 'starred' at the Anglican Church! 

The shows were all wonderful to see.  Congratulations and thank you to all that participated in the quilt shows. They happen with a lot of work and countless volunteer hours besides the time and joy in creating the quilts.

Mrs P's is vending here with a pop up shop at the Sunrise Stitches Quilt Show & Sale on now in the Fraser Cultural Centre. The Quilt Show goes until 6pm Sat.  

If you are in the area, there are some fabulous quilts on display! 

The regular shop in Amherst, is open from 10am til 1 pm today.

Wow!...

I was one of the lucky ones who went to the Sackville Quilters' Guild Show, Timeless Treasures on Sat!  

Thank you for allowing me take photos of your fabulous work!  The following is just a piece of what I saw there.  There is no rhyme or reason why the quilt intrigued me into taking a picture - I enjoyed them all!  

I'll start with the Special Exhibits of Mary Fillmore ... Hooked rugs and quilts...

And then onto the older ( much loved) quilts on display.  Some red work ones dated from around 1915 and the 1920s...  This one is from 1975 by  Laura Steeves...a Dresden Plate...

The note said... ' Made by my Grandmother.  I love finding material pieces from dresses we wore as children.  This quilt was a wedding gift for Susan and Peter Spence'

Then there was this whole cloth one...

'My Scrap Pile' by Greta Patterson was a wonderful example of a scrappy quilt...

A church can be a fabulous place to watch the light play across the fabrics... Carol Smith's 'Pineapple' was practically glowing as I walked by.  It was made for a workshop put on by Nancy Elaschuk...

A Summer Challenge ... to embellish a pieced background - also by Carol Smith ...

All in the same quilt! 

A minature Log Cabin by Joan Nuttall ... from another Guild Summer Challenge, it was to replicate a full size quilt in minature! This was the write up....

And this is the Minature on top of the original...absolutely beautiful!

Gail Baker's beautiful Double Wedding Ring quilt was on display in the way in and out! Check out the edging of the quilt...

It was a wonderful day to enjoy all the artistry of the Sackville Quilters' Guild!  They put this show on every 2 years...so pencil it in for 2017!  

Time for Colour! & More...

Mark April 11th on your calendars!  Karen Neary will be having a workshop at Mrs P's for her newest pattern Felicity!  

The pattern is for a runner and placemat.  Karen used Spring Hare by Lewis & Irene for the pattern.

With Karen's permission, Mrs P's has the pattern available in a kit with all the fabric needed to make the table runner for $ 42.95 .  You do not need to use the same fabric.  It's a great chance to learn paper piecing, y seams and more by using your stash.  The pattern is available alone for $12.95.  

This is also an ideal class for a person that knows how to sew, but not sure about beginning 'quilting'. A second kit is available with backing for the runner and silk batting for the runner for $59.95.  Below shows the fabric picked for the back. 

There are only 10 spaces available and you need to contact Karen directly for registration.  There is a registration fee for the class of  $55 besides the kit/pattern prices. She has a new email address : karen@karenneary.ca 

There is another date to mark on your calendar... a 'small' quilt show is coming Wednesday, April 29th to Mrs P's. It is entitled ' It's Time for Colour!'.  This Travelling Quilt Show is presented by the Canadian Quilters' Association/ Association de la courtepointe (CQA/ACC).  For now, you may find more info out here   http://cqacanadianquilting.blogspot.ca/p/blog-page.html
