Frivol No. 1 & No. 2 ! ...

Frivols are here!

What are Frivols?  Frivols are these collectable tins by Moda containing their newest size of precut....7x7inch squares and more!

Frivols No. 1 contains the fabric from 'Hello, Darling' collection by Bonnie & Camille, a 'Kindred' quilt pattern and a bonus Frivol or two!

With background needed of 1.5 yards, and more for binding and backing- it's not quite a complete quilt kit.  The quilt, ' Kindred', will finish at at about 42 x 42 inches. The directions are simple to follow and are printed in colour with illustrations to help keep you on track.

Fun extras in this Frivol include; an extra block pattern to make with your own fabric and it lists 2 sizes, 4 &1/2 inch or 6 inch finished block.  On that pattern card, there is a inspirational quotation.  Making these extra blocks will lead to a fun sampler quilt, Moda is calling, 'Maker'.  Also included in this first tin, is some twill tape, also fun and frivolous.

I think we let the 'goods out of this tin' for this 1st one!  It's hard to explain if you cannot see it and make a purchasing descion based on a tin wrapped in plastic is hard.  They will retail for $64.95 plus tax.

We have 5 tins only to sell.  I'm not sure if I can get more or not, so if you are intrigued or interested, drop in for a closer look or contact us by email or phone to reserve one for yourself!

Not to let moss grow under their feet, launching in Canada with No 1 Frivols is No 2 Frivols!  Again, only 5 are available for sale at Mrs P's at this current time.  Mrs P's will have the next set of Frivols as they become available!

A quick picture of Frivol No 2.....

A Minick & Simpson line, Polka Dots & Paisleys ! The quilt pattern for this design is ' Faithful' and a couple of Frivols round out the tin!

No 2 needs only binding and backing for additional fabric required but it finishes at 26 x 26 inches, a bit smaller than the Frivol No 1.

A fun little tin that gives a lot of inspiration!

Very Warm but Open Sat! ...

Yes, Mrs P's is open this Sat - from 10am til 1pm!  I'm hopeful this will be regular hours.  I will post if I cannot be open.

Since it's so hot here, maybe some snowman fabric will help you cool off!  This is the Snow Happens line.  There are over 10 different bolts in stock in the line.

To make 8 half square triangles (HST) from 10 inch squares of fabric, put 2 ten inch squares right sides together, (after marking from corner to corner, the centre of the lighter coloured square) and sew 1/4 of an inch from that mid-mark line on both sides.

Cut through the seamed lines and also straight at 5 inches on the block, ( both across and up & down) lining up the points of the seam lines.

Your cut lines allow 8 HST!

A lot of different layouts are available with HSTs!  Make a test block from some of your stash fabrics and experiment with making HSTs this way.

Update on A Bargello Day...
