Lots of people have been in since the Bargello evening and that are experimenting and trying out 'colour-ways' that appeal to them.
One of the most important things, I think, we learned was- pick a Fabric and go up and down in value from that one. The person looking at this for a colour way has the darker colours in their stash, so she's looking for colours on one side of her 'focus' fabric, or as Joy called it- ' a Zinger Fabric'!
Not everything in the picture is used or needed, you just need to be able to take the time and lay out or 'audition' your fabrics to make sure they all look good together.
Sometimes, we are a bit hesitant to take fabric into another store, as we haven't bought the fabric there. Most fabric stores will allow you to audition your fabric with theirs, if you let them know what you are trying to do and why. Check with the person working to see what they allow and don't allow. Obviously, smokey smelling or dirty fabric will not be allowed in any store.
Your normal fabric swatches are lovely and work for most projects, but with a Bargello, you need a piece that shows well with the length of the bolts that you will be looking at.
